Prior to joining KCI in 2015 as environmental science practice leader, Bob Summers served nearly three decades with the state of Maryland before retiring as Secretary of the Environment. His expertise and leadership over his career played a critical role in Maryland’s progressive environmental programs, including advances in pollution control, protection of drinking water and environmental regulatory compliance. At KCI, he is responsible for international and national water-related business development and technical integration of KCI’s Environmental and Resource Management disciplines.
Summers earned undergraduate and doctoral degrees in environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins University and has been actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including serving as Maryland’s commissioner and past chairman of the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin and the Susquehanna River Basin Commission. He represented the state on the Chesapeake Bay Program Principal’s Staff Committee, the Environmental Council of the States and the Association of State and Interstate Water Pollution Control Administrators. He was chairman of Maryland’s Commission on Climate Change and served as the Governor’s representative on the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund Advisory Committee.
