BMI Selects Floyd for Harriet Bank Award

June 15, 2011

Sparks, MD

The Baltimore Museum of Industry (BMI) honored Executive Vice President Harvey Floyd with the Harriet Bank Award at a Luncheon on June 9. Each year, the staff of the BMI selects a member of their board of trustees who exemplifies a dedication to the museum's mission and to positive change in the community. Floyd has served on the board of trustees since 2009.

Founded in 1977, the BMI is dedicated to preserving the industrial history of downtown Baltimore. It sustains a vast collection of equipment and memorabilia through interactive exhibits that allow the more than 70,000 children and public visitors to step back in time and experience the city's role as one of busiest and most important ports in America.

Floyd joined KCI in 1985 as a project engineer and was later promoted to vice president and chief of the structures division. In 1995, he was promoted to senior vice president and appointed head of KCI’s Mid-Atlantic transportation market, serving clients in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. In 2007, Floyd was named chief client services officer, where he developed and implemented the firm’s ISO 9001:2008 certified quality management system.
He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1978, and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland in 1989. Floyd is Chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies’ Political Action Committee and treasurer of the Maryland Chapter’s Political Action Committee.
