Akron, OH
At an awards banquet on July 19, the Honey Creek Watershed Association Board honored vice presidents Joseph J. Pfeiffer Jr., PWS, and Gary M. Mryncza, PE, LEED AP, with their annual Sweet as Honey award. The board, membership and partners wanted to express their gratitude to KCI, Pfeiffer and Mryncza for donating their time, equipment, expertise and other contributions in organizing their stream restoration workshop held in April.
Created in 2001, the Honey Creek Watershed Association strives to sustain the health of their 143-square-mile Ohio watershed. The association helps preserve the Watershed by protecting riparian lands, monitoring water quality to identify potential sources of pollution, and educating residents.
Earlier this year, Pfeiffer and Mryncza organized and instructed a two-day stream restoration workshop for water quality professionals. The session covered fluvial geomorphology, channel assessment and evaluation, field procedures, channel classification, plan development and construction techniques.
