Mryncza to Lead KCI’s Resource Management Discipline

September 20, 2011

Brentwood, TN

KCI Technologies Inc., a multi-disciplined engineering firm with offices throughout the eastern U.S., has promoted Vice President Gary M. Mryncza, PE, LEED AP, to Resource Management Discipline Head. He will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s natural resources, water resources and ecosystem dynamics practices, companywide, and serve as principal for public and private projects from New England to Florida and west to Texas and Indianapolis. He will be based out of the firm’s offices in Brentwood, Tenn. and Sparks, Md.

Mryncza joined KCI in 1996 as an environmental scientist and later oversaw KCI’s natural resources staff in North Carolina. He opened the firm’s office in Brentwood in 2007, and was promoted to Regional Practice Leader and Vice President in 2010. His experience includes design and construction projects completed for several state departments of transportation, the North Carolina Ecosystem Enhancement Program, Tennessee Stream Mitigation Program, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and numerous municipal and private clients.

“In the current economic environment, it takes a strong leader to keep an organization focused on the current prospects while looking for potential opportunities to position the firm for an industry upturn,” said Executive Vice President Christopher J. Griffith, PE, CCM. “Gary has the perfect mix of engineering skills, scientific know-how and sound construction background to cross all the practices within the discipline and keep the group striving toward a common goal.”

Mryncza earned bachelor’s degrees in natural science from Towson University and civil engineering technology from Old Dominion University. He also holds master’s degrees in water resources from the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom) and civil engineering from Vanderbilt University. Mryncza is a registered professional engineer in eight states and in 2009 earned his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council.

KCI is an engineering, consulting and construction firm serving clients throughout the U.S. and beyond. With revenues of approximately $163 million in 2014, KCI is ranked 77 on the Engineering News-Record's list of the top 500 engineering firms in the country.
