United Way of Central Maryland Honors KCI Leaders

May 10, 2011

Sparks, MD

The United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM) has honored two KCI Technologies  leaders—CEO & Chairman Terry F. Neimeyer, PE, BCEE, and Director Patricia J. Mitchell—for their commitment and impact in central Maryland. At a recognition breakfast held on March 29, Neimeyer was awarded the organization’s 2011 Community Ambassador Award. Later in April, the organization announced the naming of the highest Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) Endowment Fund giving level to Mitchell.

The Community Ambassador Award is presented to an individual who demonstrates his or her deep compassion and caring for the community by volunteering for UWCM in a capacity to help grow the campaign. A strong advocate of UWCM for more than a decade, Neimeyer has supported the organization through both personal and professional leadership and contributions.

“For years, Terry has been an exemplary support of United Way of Central Maryland,” said Shirley Crawford, Relationship Manager with UWCM. “His generosity and enthusiasm for United Way in all situations has truly benefited the people of Baltimore County and makes him an ideal ambassador of our mission.”

UWCM honored Mitchell with the “Patricia J. Mitchell Diamond Society” as part of the WLC’s 10-year anniversary celebration. The society is reserved for women who make a Tocqueville Legacy Circle Gift of $200,000 or more and direct it to the WLC Endowment Fund, part of UWCM’s overall endowment. The WLC Endowment Fund was established to commemorate and honor the philanthropic spirit of the WLC’s members.

“PJ believes deeply in United Way and about serving those who are less fortunate. Always leading by example, she is a tour-de-force—inspiring and mobilizing the giving, philanthropic spirit in others,” said UWCM President and CEO Mark Furst. “PJ has been critical to United Way of Central Maryland’s ability to serve the poor and most vulnerable citizens of our region.”

Neimeyer joined KCI after graduating from college in 1977. He was named president of the firm in 1995, chief executive officer in 1999 and chairman of the board in 2000. Mitchell joined KCI’s board of directors in 2004.
