I-75 over Big Slough Emergency Bridge Repair
|
After a devastating tanker truck explosion and fire decimated the 540-foot bridge carrying I-75 over Big Slough Canal, KCI partnered with FDOT to repair and reopen the highway in a 11 days. With southbound lanes closed and traffic detoured west of U.S. 41, nearly one-third of the bridge needed to be demolished and rebuilt, including three piles, three deck panels, 15 support beams, and new barrier walls. Our construction engineers and inspectors oversaw repair of the I-75 bridge as well as construction of a temporary crossover bridge. Responsibilities included preparing daily project updates, tracking progress and documenting material quantities. |
