Known as “the gateway to eastern North Carolina,” U.S. 64 is a vital link connecting Pittsboro to cities in the Piedmont region and provides an east-west route across the state. As part of the continuing plans to upgrade U.S. 64 from a two-lane facility to a four-lane limited access roadway, a new corridor southwest of Raleigh was constructed to bypass Pittsboro. KCI provided comprehensive construction engineering and inspection for the 11-mile project that included two flyover bridges.
