Dredging Annapolis Harbor for Round-the-World Volvo Race

Client:City of Annapolis
Location:Annapolis, Md.
Services:Environmental, marine and geotechnical engineering, surveys

In an effort to meet the harbor depth requirements for the 2006 Volvo Ocean Race, KCI conducted a feasibility study for dredging the Annapolis harbor. The multifaceted project required our staff to conduct a geotechnical and environmental investigation that included hydrographic surveys, and to evaluate the options for beneficial reuse of dredged material. We provided the city with a completed design and full permitting services for harbor dredging. The high-profile project was completed under budget and on time, well in advance of the race.
