George Creek Stream Relocation
|
KCI provided planning, engineering and construction oversight services for the relocation of 5,000 linear feet of stream channel on an 82-acre site. The purpose of the project was to maximize the developable area for a 1.2-million-square-foot distribution facility. Rather than take a conventional approach and “pipe” the stream, our environmental engineers relocated it around the north and west side of the property. The design created a wetland area that improved water quality and allowed the developer to obtain stormwater mitigation credits, which were donated to the Town of Plainfield. Using a matching grant from the local government, a 200-foot riparian corridor along the new channel will be tied into the town’s greenway system. |
