KCI provided engineering analysis and design services for resurfacing and reconstructing more than five miles of US 98. We developed designs to rehabilitate the outside lanes along the four-lane divided highway and resurface the entire roadway. Extensive deterioration of the roadway surface had been caused by clayey materials under the pavement structure and in drainage ditches along the road. Our designed called for installation of an under-drain system at each ditch block to facilitate the draw down of impounded runoff and relieve flooding problems in a nearby subdivision.
