The Houston Business Journal (HBJ) honored four KCI projects at their 2017 Landmark Awards dinner in April. The Adele and Ber Pieper Family Place Apartments was named the winner of the Community Impact category, and the Market Square Tower (Mixed Use category), George R. Brown Convention Center Renovation (Community Impact category), and the White Oak Music Hall (Public Assembly category) were recognized as finalists.
The Landmark Awards are presented to real estate projects that make a significant impression on the greater Houston landscape and excel in land planning, design, construction, economics, marketing and management.
Adele and Ber Pieper Family Place Apartments
The Women’s Home offers an 18-month residential program that focuses on building the skills and self-confidence necessary to overcome mental illness and addiction and achieve self-sufficient living. KCI provided the MEP design and LEED-related services for resident rooms, as well as a separate, on-site 8,250 square foot common building, which included an exercise area, social areas, conference room, computer room and case manager offices.
Market Square Tower
From the apartment units and lobby to the storage facilities and pool, our team provided MEP and fire protection design as well as construction administration services for the entire 40-story residential high-rise tower located in downtown Houston.
George R. Brown Convention Center Renovation (GRBCC)
With Super Bowl LI hosted in Houston in 2017, the GRBCC underwent many renovations prior to the big game to help enhance the visitor experience. KCI provided engineering-related services for the facilities new end-to-end first floor concourse as well as design review and MEP integration for these interior spaces. Our team was also responsible for design and commissioning services on the central plant upgrades and the control system overhaul and helped GRBCC document environmentally sustainable practices to get the massive facility recertified as LEED Silver.
White Oak Music Hall
Just north of downtown Houston, KCI provided MEP engineering services for this new music complex facility, which features two indoor stages and one outdoor stage.
