KCI Welcomes Andrew Smith as Transportation Planning Services Regional Practice Leader

KCI is pleased to have Andrew B. Smith return to the firm as vice president and regional practice leader. His focus will be on business development and overseeing NEPA transportation planning projects in the Mid-Atlantic.

Smith’s career spans more than 35 years with a focus on transportation and environmental planning. He has managed major planning and environmental projects and has been responsible for delivering National Environmental Policy Act Environmental Impact Statements for state agencies. His regional experience includes projects performed for the Maryland State Highway Administration, Maryland Transit Administration and the Maryland Transportation Authority. In his previous role, Smith oversaw technical groups for transportation and environmental planning and engineering, environmental monitoring and permitting, water resources engineering, and geographic information systems services.

Andy has established a reputation for himself as an expert in transportation planning and environmental regulations. He will be key to rebuilding and expanding our planning capabilities and growing our business into new regions.

Smith is considered an industry expert in expedited environmental documentation delivery and compliance and recently co-presented a webinar for the Transportation Research Board entitled “Expediting the NEPA process.” He earned his bachelor’s degree in geography and environmental planning from Towson University.
