On December 13, the trustees of KCI’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) approved, unanimously, the appointment of two new members of KCI’s Board of Directors: Senior Vice President Scott Sternberger, Northeast Regional Manager; and Senior Associate Laura D. Johnston, Corporate Communications Director.

James W. Blake,In September, the Board of Directors named KCI Vice President James W. Blake, PE, PLS, Regional Manager for the Carolinas. Blake also serves as an ESOP Trustee.

In other action, the Board approved the promotion of Simon H. Cheng, PE, to the position of Vice President. Cheng manages KCI’s Engineering Division for the Southeast Region, based in Raleigh, NC.

Yelena P. Kaplan, a project engineer in KCI’s Environmental Engineering Division since 1994, passed away on November 10, 2001. She was a talented and trusted colleague, who contributed a generous spirit to the engineering profession and to the community. She will be missed by her husband, Sam, her daughter, Anna, and her KCI family.
