Professional Notes (Winter 1997)
- The Dorsey Road Commuter Rail Station & MD Route 100 Interchange Project earned national finalist status in the 1997 ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards Competition, an honorable mention in the Maryland CEC Awards Competition, and first place honors in the Maryland Section ASCE 1997 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Competition.
- Leadership Maryland selected KCI’s president, Terry F. Neimeyer, PE, as a member of its class of ‘97. Terry attended monthly seminars on the complexities of good leadership and provided other area leaders with insight into the engineering profession. Terry also has been named a Director of the Consulting Engineers Council (CEC) of Maryland for 1997-2000 and is serving on the 1997-98 Board of Directors for the Maryland Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
- The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) named KCI’s Chairman and CEO Jack Kinstlinger, PE, Vice Chairman At-Large for 1997. ARTBA also presented Jack with the 1997 Guy Kelcey Award, which honors “Outstanding Service to the Planning and Design Division and the Association.” Jack also is serving as chairman of Marylanders for Efficient & Safe Highways (MESH) and as a member of the Mass Transit Administration’s Privatization Advisory Panel.
- James W. Blake, PE, manager of the Raleigh, NC, Office, was appointed to the Transportation Committee of the North Carolina Chapter of the Consulting Engineers Council (CEC).
- Engineering News Record has ranked KCI Technologies 139th on its list of the country’s top 500 design firms. With billings of $36.2 million for 1996, KCI jumped in the ranking from last year’s position of 150th. KCI also placed 96th on ENR’s list of the top 100 “pure” design firms.
- In September, 19 KCI staff members, along with 39 friends and family, participated in the 1997 Juvenile Diabetes Foundation’s Walk for the Cure at the Baltimore Zoo. Team KCI’s donors contributed more than $8,800 to the charity.
