President's Message (Fall 1998)

Dear Friends:

Jack KinstlingerKCI completed its Fiscal Year 1998 with a strong financial performance and several highly challenging and rewarding project wins. Our staff’s knowledge, creativity, and innovation, nurtured by training and thoughtful strategic planning, enabled KCI to expand its markets and pursue new practice areas. And with the economy thriving—boosted, recently, by the record breaking Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21), which authorizes $217 billion for Federal investment in highway and mass transit programs through 2003—we’re optimistic about a strong FY99.

Before closing the fiscal year, KCI converted to an S-corporation, wholly owned by an employee stock ownership plan. This action provided tax and accounting advantages, which will strengthen our future performance.

To kick off Fiscal Year 1999, we launched a new office in Easton, MD, to provide public utilities services to the Eastern Shore and Delmarva clients, as well as a full-service consulting office in Richmond, VA. In the coming months, we will continue to emphasize training and strong project management in order to serve you, our clients, better and to enhance our on-time, on-budget performance.

On December 15, KCI will celebrate its 10-year anniversary as an employee-owned company. We thank all of our clients, friends, and colleagues who have helped us reach this important milestone. It’s been a great adventure!
