Oracle Conversion Goes Live

Over the past few, often sleepless, weeks, KCI completed the implementation of Oracle Projects, the final and most critical stage of a $2.5 million Professional Service Automation software system. The Oracle system provides real-time project accounting information to project and business line managers, helping them manage projects more effectively. Under the direction of KCI Vice President Alan W. Mlinarchik, senior project managers and project accountants—representing disciplines throughout the company—teamed with database and financial analysts to craft the new system. “It’s been a two-year odyssey for the company, moving from requirements definition and customization to testing and validation of converted data,” notes Mlinarchik. “As part of the implementation, we analyzed and reengineered business processes to exploit Oracle’s capabilities and to realize greater efficiency. Already, we’re seeing benefits to both the company and to KCI’s clients.”

KCI Database Analysts Jean E. Farmer and James F. Lofft played a tireless role in bringing the project to fruition.
