Professional Notes (Fall 2001)

Graduating first in his class, Gary M. Mryncza (Environmental Division, Southeast Region) earned a master of science with distinction in Water Resources Technology and Management through the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham in West Midlands, United Kingdom.

In June 2001, Nathan J. Beil, PE, (Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager) presented the papers, “Kerr Lake Shoreline Stabilization” and “Interactive Early Flood Warning System” at the American Water Resources Conference in Snowbird, UT. Last November, Environmental Scientist Joseph J. Pfeiffer, Jr., presented a paper on the Kerr Lake project before the North American Lake Management Society in Miami, FL.

Alan Schlindwein, PE, AICP, delivered two presentations at the International Conference on Ecology and Transportation, in Keystone, CO, on September 24-28, 2001. He spoke on “Fish Passage in Urban Streams” and “Using a Designated Environmental Monitor for the Design, Construction, and Regulatory Compliance of Transportation Projects.”
