Strategic Reorganization

With the company expanding toward 800 people strong, KCI initiated a reorganization in late September that will streamline the firm’s project management and delivery capabilities. Under the new structure, effective January 2002, KCI will be organized into three geographic regions: Northeast, Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic. In the Mid-Atlantic Region, divisions will be grouped within four major markets: Transportation, Construction, Environmental, and Site/Buildings/Telecommunications—a client-based approach that will allow us to better serve our customers.

The Northeast (PA, WV, OH, and NY) and Southeast (NC, SC, GA, FL, TN) Regions will continue to be structured by discipline, rather than by market. Nathan J. Beil, PE, former head of the Environmental Engineering Group, has been selected to head the new Mid-Atlantic Region (MD, DE, VA).

According to KCI President and CEO Terry F. Neimeyer, PE, “A market-based organizational structure in the Mid-Atlantic Region will allow us to deliver projects more effectively, because related disciplines will be grouped within one overall reporting unit. Our employee owners will be able to respond better to clients’ needs, which will help us realize our strategic goals of increasing productivity, profits, and, in turn, stock value.” Neimeyer added that the organization also will create greater opportunities for individual promotion and professional development.
