Awards (Summer 2001)

On February 15, the Consulting Engineers Council of Maryland honored the joint venture of KCI Technologies and Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade and Douglas with its 2001 Grand Award for Engineering Excellence for the Baltimore-Washington Maglev Project.

On May 10, the ESOP Association—a national organization of companies with employee stock ownership plans—awarded KCI its 2001 Annual Award for Communication Excellence in the category of Printed Materials (firms with more than 250 employees.) This is the second year in a row that KCI has won top honors, earning recognition last year in the category of Overall Communications Program.

On May 9, the Maryland Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers named KCI President, CEO & Chairman Terry F. Neimeyer, PE, the 2001 Civil Engineer of the Year and presented the firm its Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award (category: Project Cost more than $15 million) for the MD Route 5 at Coventry Way Interchange project, which KCI designed for the Maryland State Highway Administration.

On April 20, the Federal Highway Administration presented its 2001 Excellence in Environmental Streamlining Award to KCI and PennDOT, District 10 for the SR 0119 South Improvement Project: Concise Environmental Impact Statement. The award cited the team’s “commitment and technical expertise…in protecting natural resources while enhancing the social and economic welfare of the local population that uses the transportation improvements.”
