HUNT VALLEY, MD, September 18, 2008—The Gazette of Politics & Business, a weekly publication focusing on political and business news throughout Maryland, recently ranked KCI Technologies seventh among the top 53 businesses in the state and placed Terry F. Neimeyer, PE, on its annual list of the “25 CEOs You Need To Know.”

Neimeyer, along with President Nathan J. Beil, received the award for KCI’s top-tier ranking at the Gazette’s first annual “P&B Exceptional 53” awards banquet, held on the evening of September 18 in Bethesda, Md., to honor the state’s top 53 companies. Eight other KCI employees attended the event from KCI’s offices in Laurel and Hunt Valley.

Speaking before a dinner audience eager to know the previously undisclosed rankings, David Edgerly, Director of Economic Development for the State of Maryland and a key sponsor of the event, praised all the companies on the list. “I applaud these exceptional Maryland businesses that are consistently on the leading edge of innovation and doing their part to help through their proactive community service programs,” he said. “We owe a lot to them for the job creation they generate, which helps keep Maryland at the top of the list of the best places to work in the country.”

The list of Maryland’s exceptional 53 companies includes businesses from a wide range of industries, including healthcare, financial services, and communications, to name a few. Companies were ranked by revenue growth, employee satisfaction, community service, and innovation in their field of expertise. KCI was in excellent company, with the Discovery Channel’s communications firm also placing in the top 10 (number 3), and Bethesda-based Honest Tea placing first.

The event came on the heels of the Gazette’s annual CEO publication highlighting “25 CEOs You Need to Know.” A runner-up on the 2007 list, Neimeyer was named among the 25 elites this year and was pictured on the cover. In the publication he explains the critical role employee ownership plays in defining KCI.

Owned by the Washington Post Company, the Gazette of Politics & Business reaches 17,000 subscribers each week.
