Transportation engineer is former division manager with Chicago’s Regional Transportation Authority

HUNT VALLEY, MD—KCI Technologies, Inc., a Hunt Valley, Maryland-based engineering firm with offices throughout the East Coast, has named Angela J. Jones, PE, an associate and senior project manager in the company’s Transportation Engineering Division.
Jones joined KCI in April after serving with Chicago’s Regional Transportation Authority—the second largest public transportation agency in the United States, where she directed technology research and development and managed planning and design projects. Previously, Jones worked as a consulting engineer in the private sector and for the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Planning, Programming, Design, and Construction. Jones brings to the company more than 16 years of experience, particularly in the areas of transportation planning and intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
According to KCI Vice President Steve Drumm, PE, “ITS planning is a critical component in designing transit and transportation systems. Angela gives us additional technical expertise in this area. She also brings a unique regional perspective, having worked in the largest metropolitan area in the Midwest.”
During her career, Jones developed regional standards for real-time, variable message signs and other ITS technology for Chicago area transit projects. She also managed highway and tollway improvement projects for local, City, and State agencies in Illinois.
Jones earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Howard University, Washington, D.C., in 1985 and a master of science degree in engineering management from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, in 1994. She is a member of the Intelligent Transportation Systems America, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Illinois Institute of Transportation Engineers.
