KCI Tower Systems Changes Name to KCI Wireless Services

Name change showcases expansion of firm’s technical services group

12/27/01—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RALEIGH, NC—In a move to showcase expanding capabilities, KCI Tower Systems, Inc., is changing its name to KCI Wireless Services, Inc., on January 1, 2002. Founded in 1995, the North Carolina-based company employs 60 people and—along with its sister company, Maryland-based KCI Technologies, Inc.—is ranked among the top 20 providers of telecommunication services in the country by the Engineering News Record.

” We’re operating on the leading edge of construction technology and telecommunications engineering,” said KCI Tower Systems President Timothy P. Donohue, PE, “and that’s what makes us unique in the industry. Wireless carriers are taking a proactive approach to building systems. They’re interested not only in ‘getting it done,’ but also in upgrading equipment to make sure that systems are going to keep meeting customers’ needs down the road.”

In the last ten years, the industry implemented a massive push to build new towers. KCI Wireless Services Senior Vice President Samuel J. Trinca anticipates that this trend will decline as carriers seek to upgrade existing facilities and install technological improvements to radio and antennae systems already in place. “Carriers are learning how to operate and improve the industry’s huge wireless platform, and the demand is spiking for firms that can provide a full array of construction, engineering, project management, maintenance, and emergency response services, all in-house—particularly with regard to installing and servicing radio equipment. Our clients come to us because we’re a ‘one-stop’ service provider. We’re changing our name to reflect that broad-based wireless services capability.”

Based in Hillsborough, NC, KCI Wireless Services will continue to build sites throughout the mid-Atlantic and southern United States for wireless industry leaders, such as ALLTEL, Bechtel, SBA, AT&T, US Cellular, Cingular, Voicestream, Verizon, and Spectrasite. KCI Wireless Services also will continue providing construction and engineering services for microwave technology, radio installation and repairs, and antennae collocations, staying, as before, a few steps ahead of the ever changing telecommunications market.
