8/20/02—FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HUNT VALLEY, MD—KCI Technologies, Inc., an engineering firm with offices throughout the mid-Atlantic and southern United States, has promoted G. Scott Lang, PE, CCM, to the position of vice president. Lang joined KCI in May 1999 and served as a professional engineer/diver in the company’s Marine Structures & Diving Division before assuming leadership of the Construction Management Division (Vertical Projects), where he oversees the work of 20 people.
Lang is responsible for several multimillion projects, including inspection services for the $125 million parking garage and Terminal Loop Road improvements at BWI Airport as well as $40 million in improvements to McKinley High School in Washington, D.C., under a contract with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.
KCI Senior Vice President Christopher J. Griffith, PE, CCM, head of the firm’s Construction Management (CM) Market, notes that KCI is expanding its reach in the CM industry. “The transportation CEI construction, engineering, and inspection market is likely to tighten in the near future, as transportation construction slows. But we’re seeing growth opportunities in the vertical CM market, and Scott is implementing innovative, structured business practices that will enhance the partnership between our CM managers and clients. With better processes, training, and technical support, KCI can export its vertical CM expertise to other geographic regions, such as Pittsburgh, PA.”
Lang retired from the U.S. Navy in 1998. He earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Cornell University in 1982 and a master of science in ocean engineering from Texas A&M in 1991. Lang resides in New Freedom, PA.
FIRM OVERVIEW—With revenues of $75.8 million in 2001, KCI is ranked near the top 100 engineering firms in the country by the Engineering News Record.
