KCI Technologies Promotes Joseph J. Siemek, PE, to Vice President

Engineer heads KCI’s Public Utility and SUE Divisions

HUNT VALLEY, MD-KCI Technologies, Inc., an engineering firm with offices throughout the mid-Atlantic and southern United States, has promoted Joseph J. Siemek, PE, to the position of vice president. Siemek joined KCI in October 2002 and assumed leadership of the company’s public utilities and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) operations in the Mid-Atlantic region, overseeing the work of more than 70 people.

“This is a homecoming for Joe,” noted Executive Vice President Nathan J. Beil, PE. “He worked with KCI from 1981 to 1987 as a project manager and assistant division chief of Environmental Engineering. Now, he’s overseeing the expansion of our Public Utilities operations, based in Hunt Valley and Laurel, Maryland, into Virginia; and building KCI’s momentum in the SUE market nationally.” KCI operates three SUE vacuum excavation trucks and crews in the region, providing a rapid, nondestructive means of identifying and mapping the location of underground utilities for transportation agencies, public works departments, utility companies, and private developers.

During a 25-year career, Siemek has planned, designed, and managed construction services for water, wastewater, and utility facilities-including pipelines, pumping stations, storage tanks, and treatment plants?in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. Siemek earned a bachelor of engineering sciences degree from The Johns Hopkins University in 1978 and a master of business administration from Loyola College in 1987. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies, Maryland Chapter, where he served as a director from 1999-2002. Siemek resides in Bel Air, MD.
