Kwabena and Forman Join KCI Technologies

Key New Associates Expand Mid-Atlantic Geotechnical Services

HUNT VALLEY, MD—KCI Technologies, a Baltimore County-based engineering firm with offices in the Northeast, mid-Atlantic and Southern United States, has appointed Kwabena Ofori-Awuah, PE, as head of the Mid-Atlantic Region’s Geotechnical Discipline, and Sarah Rose Forman as Senior Geologist and Project Manager.

Ofori-Awuah—During his 19-year career, Ofori-Awuah has performed extensive work in the geotechnical field and has established productive relationships with DCDOT, MDOT, VDOT and SCDOT. Before coming to KCI, Ofori-Awuah served the District of Columbia Department of Transportation as the Director of the Materials Engineering Research Laboratory, and Deputy Chief of the Materials QA/QC Division.

Ofori-Awuah earned a bachelor’s degree in geodetic engineering/highway engineering from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana, in 1986. In 1994, he received his master’s in civil engineering from the University of New Mexico and began his doctoral studies in civil engineering at Virginia Tech, where he is still enrolled. Ofori-Awuah is currently a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Geo-Institute and the Institute of Transportation Engineers, as well as various committees specializing in geotechnical advancement.

Foreman—Before joining KCI, Forman spent four years with the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) as a project manager in the Voluntary Cleanup Program and the National priority List program. Prior to that she served as a project manager and hydrogeologist with URS Corporation, during which time she worked mainly on a remedial investigation/feasibility study and bioremediation pilot studies at Aberdeen Proving Ground. She has also worked in senior positions as a geologist and hydrogeologist on several geo-environmental initiatives in Maryland and Pennsylvania, including Baltimore’s Fort McHenry Turning Basin, Harbor Point (former Baltimore Chrome Works), and the Chevron-Texaco Asphalt Refinery.

Forman earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology from the University of Toledo (1985 and 1991). She has been a licensed Professional Geologist since 1999. Forman has written and presented technical papers at numerous conferences and is an active member of the National Groundwater Association.
