Scott Fore captures guitar championship in Galax, VA— On August 10th, KCI’s Scott Fore, manager of the Christiansburg, VA, Office, won the 67th Annual Old Fiddler’s Convention Guitar Championship in Galax, VA. Scott is recognized as one of the country’s best guitarists in the area of traditional American fiddle tunes and has played before as many as 200,000 people. In recent years, he captured second place in the 2000 National Championship and placed among the top five finishers at last year’s national competition. “Music has to be fun, even the contests,” said Scott, who has been playing since the age of 16. “At the competitive level, you have to be serious, but now I feel like if I’ve played well, I’m content.” Scott won the Galax competition with his rendition of “Alabama Jubilee” and is expected to release a solo album this winter. He competes again at the National Championship in Winfield, KS, on September 21st.
KCI Chairman Emeritus Earns Sparky Award for Outstanding Service to the Transportation Industry—In late May in Orlando, FL, at the annual meeting of the , PE, accepted the Association’s 2002 Sparky Award. Each year, HSGTA presents the Sparky, its oldest and most prestigious award, to a member who has made an outstanding contribution to the Association and the transportation industry. A member since 1992, Kinstlinger serves on HSGTA’s Board of Directors and its Government Relations and Membership Committees.
KCI Named Firm of the Year by Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National ESOP Association—On April 12th at a meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National ESOP Association in Charlottesville, VA, KCI’s Corporate Communications Director Laura D. Johnston and Assistant Director Bonnie C. Lembitz accepted the Firm of the Year Award on behalf of KCI’s employee owners.
