2006 ARTBA Pride Award— KCI’s Northeast Region was one of several transportation construction organizations from Maine to Mississippi to receive national recognition at the American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation’s (ARTBA-TDF) seventh annual “PRIDE Awards” luncheon held May 17 in Washington, DC. Established by the ARTBA Board of Directors in October 1999, the PRIDE Awards honor “excellence in community relations and public education that enhance the image of the US transportation construction industry.

The Northeast Region was recognized for its public relations initiative designed for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s Susquehanna River Bridge construction project, and for its community outreach program on the US Route 11 & 15 archaeological data recovery project for PennDOT District 8. Lugene Keys and Stacey Hostetler represented KCI as the award recipients for the Susquehanna River Bridge Project, and Rick Geidel received the award for the archaeological data recovery project. Pat Miller, Margaret Parker and Gail Walls were also key participants in the award-winning design of the community outreach program for the US Route 11 & 15 project.

Jack Welsh Honored in MarylandJack Welsh, a project manager in the Mid-Atlantic construction management group, received the Ambassador of the Year Award in honor of his volunteer efforts with Rebuilding Together Montgomery County. RTMC addresses home repair and accessibility needs for elderly and low-income residents of Montgomery County, Md. Welsh worked alongside Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, a faith-based organization and KCI client. He also volunteered with the U.S. State Department to provide rebuilding construction management for the Baghdad Police College. “I welcomed the four bodyguards I had in Iraq” said Welsh. “I slept every night at the Baghdad Police College with a Bushmaster M4 automatic weapon within arm’s reach.”

Scholarship Honors KCI Technologies CEO—The University of Delaware (UD) College of Engineering honored KCI Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board Terry F. Neimeyer, PE, with a scholarship established in his name at the consulting engineering firm’s annual awards luncheon on October 6, 2006. The $5,000 scholarship will be awarded each year to a Maryland public high school graduate who is enrolled full-time in the UD College of Engineering. Funding for the scholarship will come from the Terry F. Neimeyer Endowment, established by KCI, friends and members of the board. “We feel that a scholarship in his name recognizes not only his exceptional leadership, but also his ongoing commitment to education and his willingness to provide opportunities for young people who want to follow his lead,” said KCI President Nathan J. Beil, PE.

Henson Honored in Central Pennsylvania Business CommunityDeborah Henson, assistant chief of KCI’s northeast environmental division, was recognized at the Central Penn Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 awards reception on October 17, 2006. Winners are a select group of individuals who have achieved notable success and demonstrated strong leadership both within and outside of their chosen field. They share a commitment to professional excellence and the community.
