KCI provided the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for this project which included 238,000 SF of renovation to two, four-story office buildings to incorporate research laboratories, 300 gene-sequencing machines, computer facilities, and associated support spaces for conducting DNA sequencing activities for human and fruit fly genomes, gene discovery and gene variation analysis. In order to meet a critical, fast-track deadline for the completion of the facilities, these projects were undertaken as a designer-led design/build effort.
