KCI, in a joint venture capacity, was selected for three consecutive contracts to perform non-personal construction management support services for the Construction Division of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) – Maryland. Work under this contract involved preparing and/or reviewing construction cost estimates; performing construction contractor claim and delay/impact analysis; performing biddability and constructibility reviews; providing specialty quality assurance testing; providing civil, mechanical and electrical testing and inspection; providing special technical consultant assistance, including project management services, schedule development and analysis, technical assistance, coordination and preparation of permits, and value engineering; and providing special environmental science technical consultant assistance, including investigation and remediation services, facilities environmental management, real property management and economic development, underground storage tank management, specialized survey operations, and complete construction management and quality assurance assistance for a variety of projects. Tasks include:
Advanced Training Center, West Virginia. Independent Government Cost Estimate (IGCE) services associated with the construction of a new US Customs Service Advanced Training Center located on a 67 acre parcel of land that will consist of the center, the site development and the construction of center infrastructure, training areas and support buildings.
Lincoln Hall, Defense University, Military Facility, Washington, D.C. Project management services for the construction of a 240,000 square foot facility to house the Strategic Gaming Center, the CAPSTONE Program, and the Institute for Homeland Security Studies. The building, which will become the largest facility at a military facility, also includes a state-of-the-art conference center. The new facility features a 600-seat auditorium, meeting space for up to 2,000, classrooms, offices, support spaces, and a new cafeteria that replaced the existing one in Marshall Hall.
Army Medical Center, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, D.C. Quality Assurance/Safety Representative services for a $34 million renewal of BSL2 and BSL3 labs; surgical rooms; professional offices; system upgrade and life safety. KCI construction managers oversaw daily operations performed by construction manager, general contractor, and sub tiers to ensure all adhered to state and local building codes, contracted terms and conditions.
McKinley Technical High School, Washington, D.C. Project involved project management and inspection of a $50 million school renovation equal in size to one city block. The planned modernized school was programmed at 282,000 square feet with a student capacity of 800. The three-phase renovation involved interior demolition, abatement and building envelope restoration, windows replacement, mechanical systems replacement, electrical plant replacement, site work and interior restoration and modernization.
