KCI has worked on several contracts under an open-end contract through the Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District. Services have included field surveys, establishment of control, construction inspections, construction cost estimates and the preparation of plans and specifications for several projects. Tasks were performed on both an emergency and routine basis, requiring innovative approaches to complete the work. Projects required a diversity of technical engineering disciplines ranging from site investigations and planning, through the entire design process and including construction phase/Title II services. Tasks include:
Lane Street Reconstruction. This project required surveying and engineering design services for the rehabilitation of an urban section of four lane road, approximately one mile in length. Work included a geotechnical engineering study, pavement repair plan, vertical alignment adjustments, pavement marking and designing, erosion control, cost estimating, specifications, sidewalks, surveying, utility coordination, traffic control, and traffic signal design.
Military Landfill Construction Inspection Services. KCI has provided construction inspection services for on-going fill operations and placement of the permanent cap for the Construction and Demolition landfill. This task has required KCI to monitor field activities for compliance with design plans and conformance with State environmental laws.
Butner School Improvements, Military, N.C. This project included traffic counts and a traffic study, prepared in conjunction with improvements to the traffic flow pattern and parking expansion at the front of Butner School. This is a fast tract project which requires special care to maintenance of traffic control to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in and about the facility.
Military MP Motor Pool Facility. KCI is providing construction plans, construction cost estimates, and specifications for a 7500 SF building. It includes a 2500 SF administration office area and a 5000 SF vehicle maintenance area.
Auditorium Site Design, Military Facility, N.C. KCI prepared a grading plan for a proposed auditorium at a Military facility. The plan included grading, erosion control, hydraulic design, surveying, cost estimating, design of sewer and water connections, and other utility coordination.
Renovate Stillwell Lounge, D-360. KCI provided construction inspection and co-ordination for the interior design and site design for the gutting and renovation of the Stilwell conference center that encompasses the entire first floor of a wing of Moon Hall. The project involved extensive demolition both interior and exterior. New walls, both permanent and operable were constructed as well as a new HVAC system, new floors, ceilings, lighting, electric drop down projection screens, window coverings, wallpaper and trim. Automated doors were added to the wing as well as a new driveway for deliveries, a new patio, and brick privacy walls.
Clean/Survey Sewer Systems, Multiple Housing. KCI in conjunction with Porter Environmental conducted a condition survey and provided root and debris cleaning for the sanitary sewer systems for multiple housing. Each manhole was checked and photographed by an inspector who looked for signs of deterioration and verified the line sizes in and out of each structure. Every pipe that was accessible was cleaned of roots, loose masonry, and other debris using rotating root cutting blades and the debris was flushed and collected for disposal. After cleaning, each line was televised using a video camera to provide an interior view.
