KCI offers Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and services for creating, managing and analyzing data to help our clients solve critical planning and engineering challenges. For more than fifteen years, KCI has been applying GIS technology for clients in virtually every technical discipline. In 1988, KCI was one of the first consultants to use GIS technology to identify potential wetland mitigation sites for roadway construction in the state of Maryland. Since then, KCI has been working in a multi-discipline, multi-platform environment, employing the best resources available to meet our clients’ needs.

Our GIS staff is skilled with many client/server development tools, relational database management systems (RDBMS), and web development languages. Our services include GIS analysis, Internet GIS, data conversion, database design and application development utilizing a wide variety development environments and languages. KCI has successfully developed and managed projects integrating information technology, Internet GIS, and data warehousing technologies. These projects required staff proficient with many development and analysis tools, including ESRI ArcInfo, ArcView, ArcGIS 8.x, ArcGIS 9.x, ArcSDE 9, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, MapObjects, ArcIMS 9, Autodesk Mapguide, Idrisi, Visual Basic, C++, ASP, ColdFusion, Java, Javascript, and HTML. KCI’s staff is also highly skilled with the following software: Oracle, Informix, MS SQL Server, MS Access, dBase, FoxPro, Sybase, Postgre SQL, and MySQL.

KCI houses state-of-the-art computer hardware and software. GIS staff utilizes Pentium III and IV GIS workstations with dual monitors for maximum desktop real estate. KCI uses six networked copies of ArcInfo 9 along with numerous stand-alone copies of ArcView 8.3, ArcView 9, and ArcView 3.3. In support of GIS application, database, and web-development, KCI utilizes six separate servers running ArcSDE 9, Oracle 9i, ArcIMS 9, Coldfusion, Mapguide, and MYSQL. The fusion of knowledge, creativity, and innovative ideas is the key to KCI’s success.
