Bob Murphy, PE, PTOE, RLS, is a Vice President and Regional Practice Leader within KCI’s transportation south practice. Prior to joining KCI as part of an acquisition, he was president of RPM Transportation Consultants, a Tennessee-based company specializing in traffic engineering, transportation planning, roundabout and bikeway design, and traffic data collection. With close to four decades in the industry, Bob has overseen, managed and conducted a wide range of engineering studies and gained extensive experience working on a multitude of diverse transportation and traffic planning projects. He has prepared numerous planning and design plans, traffic signal optimization studies, traffic signal and ITS design plans, and roadway signing plans and has a strong reputation in the field of roadway geometric design, intersection design, traffic safety and crash analysis, capacity analysis, and bikeway and pedestrian planning and design.
Murphy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee. He is a registered Professional Engineer in five states, a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer and is a registered Land Surveyor in Tennessee. Bob has served on numerous national committees assisting in the review of national transportation engineering standards and recently served as the Chair of International ITE’s Pedestrian & Bicycle Committee as well as on the boards of International and Southern District ITE. He currently serves on ITE’s Vision Zero Task Force.
