Working with MH Consulting, KCI conducted engineering analyses and prepared plans to complete a Public Safety Communications upgrade that consisted of three raw land tower sites and two site upgrade projects. Two of the raw land sites were originally slated to be on school property, however the zoning requirements could not be achieved based on the proximity to the school and assembly areas. Working with the City, the team found another site in close proximity, but it had wetlands. KCI cleared the site through wetland delineation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineer concurrence to be used for the new tower. Two of the colocation sites also required structural upgrades, which our team designed and provided guidance through the construction and installation of the modifications. One of the new towers was to be located in the downtown area, which had numerous historical areas. The final raw land site, located on city property, involved much more in depth historical work to mitigate an impact to a property eligible for registration on the historic register.
