Working as part of a team, KCI, through the acquisition of RPM Transportation Consultants, completed an inventory of all park and ride lots (37 total) that are maintained within the Nashville region by either the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) or the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA).
Park and ride lots exist in a variety of rural and urban contexts across the region and support varying levels of transit service including local bus, express bus, and heavy rail. The inventory focused on elements such as size/capacity, signage, rider amenities, convenience of each lot to its users, and supportive non-motorized connections. Non-motorized infrastructure components included sidewalks, ADA accessibility, bike racks, and nearby designated bus loading. Connections to the transit stop, nearby destinations, and the adjacent major roadway were also assessed.
