KCI provided construction engineering and inspection services for the reconstruction and addition of one travel lane in each direction along a portion of SR 688 (Ulmerton Road) between a point west of 38th Street and a point west of Egret Boulevard. The intersections at 34th Street and 38th Street/Stonybrook Drive were reconstructed and widened on the south side of Ulmerton Road to accommodate additional turning movements at each intersection. SR 688 was also milled and resurfaced the full width from west of Egret Boulevard to west of I-275.
All ramps connecting to SR 688 were reconstructed at a higher profile elevation than existing conditions. The work also included the removal and replacement of the northbound to westbound SR 686 flyover ramp structure and the construction of a new ramp from westbound Ulmerton Road to northbound 34th Street. In addition to the work on Ulmerton Road, SR 686 (Roosevelt Boulevard) was widened one lane in each direction from 28th Street to the Ulmerton Road ramps. Work also included significant utility installations/relocations for the city of Largo (2,407 linear feet of force main). These improvements were intended to improve capacity and traffic flow during peak hours through the interchange between SR 688, I-275 and SR 686.
