The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Maryland Chapter recognized the Howard Community College Health Sciences Building at their 9th Annual Wintergreen Awards for Excellence in Green Building on Thursday, February 20.
KCI served as the site/civil engineer for the new facility, which was designed to meet LEED Silver specifications. The Health Sciences Building is the college’s first to achieve a sustainability certification.
Designed to meet the needs of emerging healthcare professionals in Howard County this new $50 million, 113,000 square-foot building officially opened its doors at a ribbon-cutting ceremony last winter. Funded by the Howard County government and the State of Maryland the facility houses over 15 programs that provide students with cutting-edge training they need for job preparation.
