KCI Welcomes Chuck Bailey as Georgia Traffic/ITS Practice Leader

KCI welcomes Charles R. Bailey, PE, as practice leader for traffic engineering/intelligent transportation systems (ITS). He will be responsible for developing and growing the firm’s traffic and ITS services offerings within the southeast region.

Bailey brings to the firm more than twenty years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic safety and ITS. Prior to joining KCI, he spent two decades in progressively responsible roles with the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation, finishing his tenure as Traffic Engineering Division Director. There, he oversaw the county’s traffic signal and ITS projects, administered the agency’s transportation programs, managed a staff of 25 employees, and ensured compliance with state, local and federal laws and regulations. Throughout his career, Bailey has completed numerous projects with a goal of improving transportation safety and efficiency, including establishing and managing residential speed control programs; overseeing street lighting, traffic signals, electronic traffic control devices, and intelligent transportation systems; and developing traffic impact studies and plans to alleviate congestion.

Chuck has had a distinguished career dedicated to increasing the safety of our daily commutes and travel. His experience and recognized expertise will expedite our growth into the traffic and ITS market as we expand our transportation service offerings.

Bayne E. Smith, PE, PTOE

Bailey earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and transportation engineering, respectively, from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a registered professional engineer in Georgia and is an active member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and the Intelligent Transportation Society of Georgia.
