KCI assisted Anne Arundel County’s Office of Information Technology in migrating their on-premises GIS system to the cloud.
The county’s shift from physical servers to a cloud-based platform was inspired by the limitations of static systems with quarterly updates, frequent outages during maintenance and the need for scalability. Our team was asked to serve as an intermediary and advocate for implementation between the county and the hosting provider, working to address challenges arising from increasingly complex geospatial and mapping environments. The ArcGIS cloud implementation not only centralized GIS platforms for the first time but also enabled greater collaboration, flexibility and rapid deployment of new applications.
