Under this system-wide contract, KCI is providing electric distribution engineering services in North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Florida. Spanning numerous states, Duke Energy’s system is as large as it is diverse, with a combination of aerial and underground systems that have unique needs and objectives.

Our team delivered more than 1,000 projects over a 12-month span by adapting to the multiple physical facilities, networks, asset management systems and system objectives. Assignments have included:

  • Emergency restoration support
  • Joint use make ready
  • Lighting design
  • DOTGrid Mod
  • GIS/CADD services
  • Reliability and integrity
  • Power quality
  • New revenue/new customer and existing facility modification
  • Network/complicated commercial industrial system design
  • URD subdivision design
  • Storm hardening/wind loading and transmission line services

KCI placed qualified management, senior and technician level staff in positions to work directly with Duke staff to listen and understand the unique requirements and needs of their individual engineering centers and project managers.

Our team became one of the main providers of off-site distribution design and development services in two of their three main territories within the first 12 months of the contract.
