KCI Welcomes Kathy Berek as Water Practice Leader for Houston Area

KCI welcomes Kathy Berek, PE, ENV SP, as Water Practice Leader. She will be responsible for growing the firm’s water and wastewater services offerings in the Houston area.

Berek’s career spans more than 30 years and has included all phases of public works from planning and design through construction and program management. Prior to joining KCI, she gained a wide range of experience throughout her lengthy career in managing water and wastewater related initiatives at the project and program levels. Her expertise includes sewer lines, large diameter water lines, pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, water treatment facilities and dam rehabilitations. Recently, Berek served as the program manager for the Tarrant Regional Water District’s Integrated Pipeline Project (IPL), managing a $2.3 billion program encompassing collaboration of cross-functional public agency and consulting teams as well as public and private stakeholders focused on 150 miles of pipe alignment.

Kathy has an outstanding background in managing water projects, as well as an excellent understanding of the issues and initiatives here in Texas. Her expertise and existing relationships will help KCI continue to grow our Water Practice in Texas.

Mehmet A. Boz, PhD, PE

Berek holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas – Arlington. She is a registered professional engineer in Texas and earned her Envision Sustainability Professional accreditation from the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure. Berek is a member of the Texas Water Conservation Association and participates in the Diversity Committee of the American Water Works Association (Texas).
