KCI provided comprehensive Level I and Level II underwater inspections for over 150 rail bridges across more than 20 states on the Norfolk Southern System.
Our commercially certified engineer and technician divers used advanced sonar imaging, channel soundings, and acoustic techniques to assess submerged bridge components for scour, structural degradation, corrosion, and other defects, including specialized acoustic imaging where debris limited direct diver access. All inspections were carried out in full compliance with Federal Railroad Administration guidelines and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) standards, ensuring the highest level of quality while supporting proactive maintenance. With careful coordination to access remote and challenging sites, KCI completed all inspections efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
