Our History

In 1955, Matz Childs and Associates was founded. After a succession of moves that paralleled the firm’s growth, the company was purchased by industrial products conglomerate Walter Kidde & Company in 1969.

Our History

Eight years later, Kidde merged the firm with three other architectural and engineering firms to create an engineering subsidiary known as Kidde Consultants Inc.

Our History

In 1987, Hanson Trust PLC of Great Britain, a manufacturing company, purchased the parent company Kidde. Soon thereafter, the subsidiary initiated an employee buyout from Hanson, which was completed in December 1988. In 1991, the firm’s official name was changed to KCI Technologies Inc.

Our History

KCI’s successful involvement in significant projects, such as the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant, Camden Yards, Delaware Route 1, Fiberlight West Texas, Hunt Valley Town Center, Loveton Farms, and Pennsylvania Blue Route Environmental Monitor, early in our establishment led to the firm’s continued growth and prosperity over the years.

Our History

Thanks to the commitment of our employee owners, we have been consistently ranked among the top consulting engineering firms in the country by the Engineering News-Record.
