KCI was selected to lead the Rittiman Road Railroad Grade Separation project, a critical infrastructure investment in San Antonio.
With the addition of a new overpass at the railroad crossing, this long-awaited project will address one of the city’s most congested bottlenecks. KCI will support the City of San Antonio through design, environmental clearance under NEPA, and coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Rail Division, and the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). Services are structured into three focus areas of design management, environmental management, and railroad management with dedicated leads for each discipline and eRailSafe-certified personnel.
As a vital east-west connector, Rittiman Road links neighborhoods, businesses, and key regional destinations that have been impacted by daily delays at the railroad crossing. Through this upgrade, thousands of residents, workers, and students will benefit from improvements that ease traffic, enhance safety, and create a more reliable route for all travelers. The future design will also incorporate multimodal transportation features for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit travelers to support the city’s goals for complete streets.
