KCI is pleased to announce that Robert Atkinson has been promoted to service line leader for construction management in the South.
In his new position, he will spearhead high-level activities such as project planning, contract negotiation, and budget compliance while partnering with regional project teams and stakeholders to promote the expansion of the service line.
With nearly three decades of experience, Atkinson has a proven track record successfully leading construction management efforts for complex transportation projects across KCI’s broader South Atlantic market. Having first joined the firm in 2003, he has progressed his career through various internal positions, first assuming responsibility for field inspection work before moving into project management and advanced leadership. In his most recent role as regional practice leader, he successfully grew KCI’s Carolinas region to more than 150 professionals, leveraging strategic vision and a client-based approach to reinforce a strong company presence.

Atkinson’s comprehensive industry knowledge includes inspection, project management, QA/QC leadership roles, and the oversight of multi-bridge and emergency replacement projects involving large-scale teams with multiple contractors. He has previously served as a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Construction Engineering & Inspection subcommittee.
