To support the District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) Federal-Aid Citywide Pavement Restoration – STBG program, KCI provided construction management services.

Spanning over 70 miles of streetways and 37 miles of sidewalks across all eight wards, this multi-year program transformed DC’s roadway and sidewalk infrastructure by improving safety, accessibility, and mobility through data-informed planning and efficient coordination. Our team played a pivotal role in coordinating more than 100 annual construction activities through advanced digital platforms and comprehensive two-week look-ahead schedules published on DDOT’s PaveDC platform. This approach streamlined communication, minimized disruptions, and maintained consistent progress across a complex urban landscape.

Despite tight security protocols around sensitive federal and historic sites, and various scheduling challenges, our team remained on time and under budget, incorporating sustainable practices like material reuse and carbon-reducing methods to exceed expectations. The completed initiative now sets the standard for large-scale urban infrastructure management, improving safety and quality of life for both residents and visitors alike.

Having managed this contract for more than a decade, our team’s proven performance and reliability have established KCI as a trusted partner to DDOT.
