To enhance operational safety and efficiency, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Public Transportation enlisted KCI to review and assess the current and future needs of the Schuylkill Transportation System (STS).
Our team conducted field inspections and interviewed management to document operations and future needs. Using collected data and comparisons with similar agencies, KCI developed right-sized planning concepts. The client chose to relocate to a new, modern 93,000-square-foot facility, and KCI provided architectural design and construction services. Our team delivered architectural design and construction phase services for the facility, accommodating administration, maintenance, and indoor fleet storage.
During the design process, the team surveyed the existing buildings and developed a demolition package to prepare the site for new construction. By utilizing Autodesk Revit and Fusion 360, KCI ensured real-time collaboration and precision in design, complemented by realistic renderings for client visualization. The new facility features open, cohesive office spaces with natural lighting and earth-toned finishes, alongside efficient maintenance bays and a vehicle storage garage designed for seamless transitions from repair to storage, supporting the transit agency’s operational needs.
