As part of the 22.5-mile Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway public-private partnership, this major infrastructure project aimed to reduce congestion, improve travel reliability, and introduce multimodal transportation options throughout Northern Virginia.

KCI provided structural engineering design services for three critical bridges within the corridor: Jermantown Road (B616), Cedar Lane (B620), and Gallows Road (B621). Each bridge is a two-span steel structure ranging from 291 to 407 feet in length and presented challenges due to drainage and girder conflicts.

To accommodate the tight right-of-way in this densely developed residential and commercial area, our team incorporated wall piers, semi-integral abutments, and a combination of MSE and tie-back post and panel wall systems to minimize impacts. Through thoughtful design and coordination, the new infrastructure supports the region’s long-term mobility goals while preserving adjacent communities and properties.
