KCI is pleased to announce that John Borkowski, PE, PTOE, PTP, RSP1, has been promoted to practice leader for traffic design.
In this role, he will be responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives, cultivating new and existing client relationships, and expanding the company’s presence throughout Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Borkowski has nearly 30 years of experience in the transportation industry, having spent most of his career with KCI in roles of succeeding responsibility. He has worked on large-scale transportation projects for top clients including the Federal Highway Administration, the District of Columbia, and Maryland Department of Transportation, among others. His expertise spans traffic engineering, safety, and operations, as well as transportation planning and preliminary design for intersections, corridors, and interchanges. From the design of signing, pavement markings, signals, lighting, and ITS to traffic impact analyses, feasibility studies, work zone design and analysis, and road safety audits, Borkowski brings a comprehensive understanding of the planning, operations, and design of transportation systems.

Borkowski has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. He is a licensed professional engineer in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as a certified Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), and Road Safety Professional (RSP1).
