Douglas Lang Brings Extensive Experience to KCI’s Building Structures Practice

KCI is pleased to announce the hiring of Douglas Lang, PE, as a senior project manager in the Building Structures Practice.

In this role, he will provide a full range of engineering services in the field of structural engineering for facilities comprising of new construction, building additions, and rehabilitation and renovation ventures.

Throughout his long career that spans almost four decades, Lang has led contracts and provided project management, assessment of existing facilities, evaluation of structural engineering system concepts, structural analysis and design, and preparation of contract documents, plans, and specifications. His experience includes projects within a wide range of industries including government, airport, transit, intermodal, roadway, tunnel, parking, recreational, institutional, office, commercial, warehouse and residential contracts.

His project experience includes the Liberty Tunnel restoration project in Pittsburgh, where Lang was responsible for the design of structural rehabilitation measures and supports for new low and medium voltage electrical conduit installation. The project involved selective demolition of deteriorated concrete, in addition to the restoration of the arch and air supply shaft structures. His work has also included providing structural design services for the initial design of the 450,000 square-foot underground visitor facility adjacent to the U.S. Capitol building, which utilized concrete structures such as two-way spanning flat slabs, one-way spanning joists, reinforced columns and perimeter slurry wall construction.

Lang earned his bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a licensed professional engineer in six states and the District of Columbia.
