Fayetteville Outer Loop Project Recognized with DBIA Award

June 25, 2026 | Awards

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Southeast Region recently honored the Fayetteville Outer Loop project with a Transportation Award.

The initiative was awarded in the Projects Exceeding $100 Million category and was formally recognized at the organization’s annual Design-Build Awards ceremony.

The Fayetteville Outer Loop project constructed a new 6-mile segment of Interstate 295 (I-295) and widened a 3-mile stretch of Interstate 95 (I-95) from four lanes to eight. KCI oversaw inspection and construction administration services, coordination between project partners, and construction activities, including the installation of a temporary conveyor belt bridge that transported nearly 4 million tons of dirt across the roadway, reducing the need for dump truck trips on public roads and minimizing impacts on local traffic. Drawing on industry expertise, KCI advised the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to incorporate the proposed I-95 widening into the development of the new I-295 corridor, helping expedite construction and reduce costs.
